News and Notes for Monday, October 21st, 2024
The Yankees and Dodgers will meet in the World Series, making MLB’s dreams come true.
Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and a bunch of faceless bullpen pitchers will decide the title.
It’s interesting to think that this matchup is grsat for MLB, and maybe a repeat would be fine, but if two top five payroll teams face off three years in a row, if would become an existential crisis. I dont THINK that will happen but now that pretty much every team has a top shelf analytics team… it’s possible.
I hold no resentment against owners who spend money on their teams, however. Good for them. Cleveland’s owners should learn from their example.
Here’s Zack Meisel on the end of the Guardians season. He and T.J. Zuppe also had a good wrap-up podcast on the Selby is Godcast.
Jason Lloyd looked at Stephen Vogt’s first playoffs as a manager.
Terry Pluto also offered an introspective on the season.
Here’s Austin Hedges in the postgame:

And here is playoff hero Matthew Boyd:
Asked #Guardians Matthew Boyd what this team can take into next season. He had a really great answer.
“I think once you get to experience it out there, this time of year, and you get to know we were three wins away from a World Series, you want nothing else but that.” pic.twitter.com/HPu6ovvech

And in case you missed it, here’s Stephen Vogt with some great life advice:

Enjoy the next four days with no baseball. Time to read a book, I guess.
