Opening Day is around the corner, and so are the second wave of renovations at The Corner
We are getting closer and closer to the Guardians’ home opener on Tuesday, April 8th. As the gates open up, the fans will be seeing the next wave of Progressive Field renovations that were made over the winter.
Although most of the renovations have been targeted towards the deeper pockets, the stadium remains all-inclusive and makes sure that everyone, regardless of age or wealth, has a great time at the ballpark!
The new upper deck renovations are slowly gaining popularity, as there is a collection of good places to eat or have a drink while watching the game. There are pavilions where the old shipping containers used to be, plenty of standing room, and spots where you can get an amazing view of both the city and the ballpark.
I was up in the right field upper deck area for game 3 of the ALCS where Jhonkensy Noel and David Fry put the team on their backs late in the game, and I’ll say that it looks amazing up there. The view is great and there was a wide variety of fans up in that area.
Even in the left field area, I went during the regular season and there were a lot of people there, and that area wasn’t even finished yet. It seems like now that everything is going to be finished by Opening Day, there will be lots of activity from the fans up in some of the most neglected areas in years prior.
Most, if not all of the rest of the stadium will also be rocking the new blue seats that popped up in the lower bowl last year, representing a whole new look for the stadium not only in the structural renovations.
The Corner bar is still the hot spot for adults, however. With their vast selection of beer and other drinks, many flock to The Corner where they can have a drink and watch the Guards play from the standing room.
Although some features have been taken from the family deck, it is still the prime spot to go for those who are just trying to have a fun time with their young ones. The Kids’ Clubhouse is a popular destination for kids, and the view from the deck is one of the best in the ballpark.
Progressive Field’s food selection is also very wide, including the classic treats you’d have at a ballpark and even a taste of Cleveland’s signature foods.
But as for the new renovations, the old Terrace Club has been remodeled to be the Terrace Hub, a more luxurious spot for people to convene and watch a game comfortably. The glass panes are gone and now the terraces are filled with outdoor lounges to sit back and watch.
A downside now is that tickets are required to enter this, as opposed to when the Terrace Club would admit anyone who wanted to have a nice dinner while watching the game.
There are also new dugout suites with an indoor lounge to boot. People who sit at the dugout suites have exclusive access to this lounge.
