While it’s near impossible to attend all 162 games, here are the ones that you should be sure to find yourself at in 2025.
The 2025 Cleveland Guardians schedule is finally out and you have 162 games, half of those at home, to choose from. How ever will you decide which ones to attend? If you can – and plan to – attend all of them, I’m jealous. If not, here are some suggestions for a few I think you should make a point to attend.
The first series I would recommend attending would be the first home series. The Guardians open their season at Progressive Field on April 8th against the Chicago White Sox at 4:10 pm. While this is almost a guaranteed win, that’s not the main reason you should find yourself in the seats. After all, it will be the first glimpse of Guardians baseball we’ll be getting in Cleveland since October. Additionally, there won’t be millions of extra people in town for the eclipse this year.
Next, I would recommend coming back to the park just three days later when the Guards take on the Kansas City Royals. The Royals continually made themselves a threat in the AL Central last year, and many writers think it’ll be no different this year. This three-game weekend series will make for some great, competitive baseball that you won’t want to miss.
Along those same lines, the Guards will face the rival Minnesota Twins at the end of the month for a four-game set. While the Twins weren’t as big of a threat this past season, it always pays to be afraid of them. Whether we’re chasing them down in first place or trying to hold them off for the title, they always seem to find their way into the conversation. Taking this series would be a huge start to the season.
Starting on Memorial Day, the reigning World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers come to town for three games. I wouldn’t write this series off as a total wash just yet, even though the team is an absolute powerhouse. There’s no telling what the pesky Guards will be able to pull off this season, and taking down the best team in (maybe) baseball history seems like something that’s written into their script.
From June 9-11, the Cincinnati Reds will come to town for the 2025 Ohio Cup. The reigning Cup Champion Guardians look to hold onto the trophy for another year. While there’s no real benefit to winning the Cup and it’s honestly just for fun, why should that keep you from attending? In-state rivalries are just as fun as division ones.
Over the July 4th holiday weekend, the Detroit Tigers will pay Cleveland a visit in what’s sure to be one of the most exciting series of the season. After what both teams pulled off in the ALDS in 2024, a rematch is exactly what fans want to see. Why not see the 2024 AL Cy Young winner in person while you’re at it?
August and September offer a lot of divisional matchups, bringing the Twins, Royals, White Sox, and Tigers back to town. If you aren’t able to make it to any of these matchups the first time they roll around, definitely get to the park for the rematches. The Guardians end their season by facing the 2023 champs, the Texas Rangers, at home. While they didn’t put up much of a fight last year, it could still be exciting to see such a recent champion at home.
This isn’t even taking into account the many awesome giveaways and theme-days the Guardians put on throughout the season, so even if the on-field product doesn’t appeal to you, there will definitely be a game or two to find yourself at this upcoming season. 74 days until baseball is back at Progressive Field, and you’d better be there.
